Here are the open source portals that we completed as of this week:

We also created an easier to interact with version of our One Community Agreement for Pioneer applicants and added an FAQ to the bottom of the new page:

We are very happy to report that the open source project-launch blueprinting portal for the Tropical Atrium (click to visit) is now live! Along with the creation of this page detailing this component of the One Community sustainable infrastructure, we have also open sourced our back office notes and created a Collaborative Input for Infrastructure Page to make it easy for people to send us their ideas and suggestions. As one of the many next steps we will now also be A) adding that Collaborative Input for Infrastructure Page to all the other infrastructure pages so people can more easily share their input on everything we are working on and B) structuring all infrastructure pages as expandable open source portals like this one:

TROPICAL ATRIUM OPEN SOURCE PORTAL PAGE

OPEN SOURCE PROJECT-LAUNCH BLUEPRINTING THIS STRUCTURE

As we continue open source project-launch blueprinting the Tropical Atrium, build it, and problem solve and evolve it for One Community (and with others around the world) we will use this page as the portal to all the open source and free-shared details related to this component including:

● Architectural plans
● Detailed materials list
● Detailed equipment and tools needs list
● Cost analysis and best sources for materials and equipment
● How to build, what to watch out for, how to adapt structure
● How to work with local government if permitting is needed
● On-going maintenance and upkeep details per our on-going experience
● Specifics of everything you can grow and what kinds of yields you can expect
● Complete details on how to build your own Tropical Atrium and how many hours it should take
● How to make your build easier than ours and how to solve any problems we encountered in our build
● Archive and database of others building similar structures including their experiences, adaptations, suggestions, etc.

The list above will evolve into links to individual pages including all the open source project-launch blueprinting details people need to duplicate every aspect of this component of One Community in part or in whole.

OPEN SOURCE PRODUCTION UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF 3/11

This last week’s team accomplishments were primarily in Sustainable Infrastructure, the Education for Life Program, and significan website infrastructure updates.

Sustainable Living Communities Open Source Food Production

Thanks to the consulting of Avery Ellis (Aquaponics Specialist and owner/operator of Integrated Aquaponics) and the amazing architecture skills of Douglas Simms Stenhouse (Architect and Water Color Artist), we’re happy to say that the commercial food production aquapini layout and general structure designs are done! This piece of our open source project-launch blueprinting of sustainable living communities is an aquapini purposed for maximum food volume production. In support of our open source goals, this aquapini will demonstrate and share a model of affordable large-scale quality food production utilizing very little water and with built in temperature control for more extreme climates.

Sustainable Living Communities Open Source SEGO Center City Hub

The One Community SEGO Center City Hub is a foundational component of the One Community duplicable teacher/demonstration community, village, and city model purposed to provide open source project-launch blueprinting necessary for a duplicable city center that will:

  • ADA Compliant
  • Designed to California code for maximum duplicability
  • Be LEED Platinum certified and demonstrate cutting-edge sustainability, be
  • Save resources by functioning as a community, village, or city recreation center
  • Save resources by functioning as a community, village, or city recreation center dining hall
  • Save resources by functioning as a community, village, or city laundry facility
  • Offer a green-luxury option to donors, major eco-investors, VIPs, or anyone else that might not feel like they are initially ready to stay in one of our earthbag or straw bale hand-constructed homes.

Thanks to the hard work of Karl Harris (Architect Drafter, Designer, and founder of KH Designs), we’ve got this updated CAD export showing the new library and Conference Dome bathroom location, moving the bathrooms of the Living Dome to a central location for increased resource efficiency and demonstration of collaborative living, a new 3rd floor sunrise patio space for congregating, and an open floor plan for the 4th floor.

"In order to change an existing paradigm you do not struggle to try and change the problematic model.

You create a new model and make the old one obsolete. That, in essence, is the higher service to which we are all being called."
